Mosaic Bird Bath

Create a 16” concrete birdbath using the “pique assiette” mosaic technique. Pique Assiette loosely translated from French means “thief of plates”. In addition to broken plates, this technique utilizes other found and up-cycled materials including broken china and ceramic shards, beach glass, shells, stones and stained glass.

Once the birdbath is completed, class members be able to refine their new skills on a 6”x7” mosaic camp mirror.

The class will cover safe, proper tool use, including tile nippers, glass cutters, glass grinder and grinding stones. The class will also cover principles of design, mortar mixing and grouting techniques.
